4/25/21- NASCAR GEICO 500- Daily Fantasy Preview

Let me start off with a disclaimer. If you pick one NASCAR daily fantasy team this season, do it another race. Dega is possibly the most random track there is. It is impossible to predict who will record the fastest lap, and there are relatively few laps, so those bonuses are pretty much lucky. Also, due to the restrictor plates, there is a lots of tight pack racing, where one mistake can wreck half the field. Who can forget when Brad Keselowski sent Carl Edwards flying into the catch fence, or Ricky Bobby rolling over 17 times and getting overrun by invisible flames. The key here is to go for spot differental bonuses, and survivors. Don’t worry about spending to the cap either. The perfect team the last 4 Talladega races all fit under the salary cap with room to spare. Denny Hamlin starts from the pole. He won the last race at Talledega, and should lead laps. If he can stay out front and work with his teammates, hopefully he will be in front of any early trouble. Aric Almirola won there in 2018. He is having a miserable season, but has a good chance to turn it around. Ryan Newman is the only driver to finish the last six Talledega races. Ryan Preece and Corey Lajoie are good plate racers who can pick up spot differential points. Finally, rising Xfinity series star Harrison Burton makes his Cup debut starting 39th. There’s a ton of room for spot differential points, and if he can make it to the front he will find some friends in Joe Gibbs drivers. Could my well researched team beat a team picked by a blind pig? We”ll find out tomorrow.
The team: Denny Hamlin, Ryan Newman, Aric Almirola, Ryan Preece, Corey Lajoie, Harrison Burton
