9/20/21 MLB- St. Louis Cardinals at Milwaukee Brewers Preview

As much as I want to write up tonight’s football game and ramble about biting kneecaps, I see more value in Milwaukee as the Cardinals, the hottest team in baseball comes to town riding an eight game winning streak. Yes, just like all bleeding stops, it’s true that all streaks end. But as you hear so many times from me, this is all about value. The Cards have a 3 game lead for the final wild card spot after sweeping San Diego this weekend. Milwaukee has already clinched a playoff spot and has a magic number of 1 for the division. They are on cruise, as evidenced by their home loss to the Cubs yesterday. Jake Woodford goes for St. Louis tonight. While the pitching matchup favors Brewers starter Freddy Peralta, Woodford did throw five scoreless innings in his only career start vs Milwaukee on September 4th. While Peralta is good, he remains flummoxed by Paul Goldschmidt, who has a lifetime batting average of .545 vs Peralta. There is absolutely no reason the Redbirds won’t keep this one close.
The Pick: Cardinals +1.5 (-115)
