10/13/21 NHL- New York Rangers at Washington Capitals Preview

The NHL is back, and not a moment too soon as there is nothing but hockey to bet on today. The league’s showcase game is the one that offers the best value for right now. Team’s opening games can be tricky to bet on as there are no trends to build off of, no back to backs or backup goalies and little reason for teams to come out flat or be off their game. Both of these teams have lots of offensive talent. They also are both suspect in their own end. Capitals games typically went over last season, particularly towards the end. There is also some history between teams from last season, stemming from Tom Wilson blindsiding the Rangers’ best player, Artemi Panarin during a line brawl. The Rangers will have extra motivation from that incident. They could simply line up Ryan Reeves to beat up Wilson off the opening draw, then get their revenge on the scoreboard. Or the game could degenerate into a fight fest, which will lead to plenty of power play chances. Either way, all signs point to the nets being filled, early and often. Both games yesterday had at least 7 goals scored. Even the offensively challenged expansion Seattle Kraken put up 3 goals. If you can get it at 6, take the over, and sit back and enjoy the return of the best game in the world!
The Pick: Over 6 (-120)
