10/20/21 NHL- Boston Bruins at Philadelphia Flyers Preview

Another light schedule today, so we’ll focus on one of two NHL games, as the Bruins travel to the Wells Fargo center to take on the Flyers. The Bruins haven’t played since Saturday, when they posted a convincing 3-1 victory over the Dallas Stars. This is the 3rd consecutive home game for the Flyers, splitting the first two in overtime. The goaltending matchup is the key to this one. The Flyers are capable of scoring in bunches, but dating back to last season they have had major issues keeping the puck out of their own net. Tonight’s Flyers starter, Martin Jones has had a similar issue over the last two seasons in San Jose. I don’t expect him to get any relief for his sunburned neck this evening. The Bruins still boast the Perfection Line of Brad Marchand, David Pastrnak and Patrice Bergeron. They also have added depth, with Taylor Hall, Erik Haula and Nick Foligno, not to mention great puck moving defensement like Charlie McAvoy and Brandon Carlo. They will be far too much for Jones. In the Bruins net is Jeremy Swayman, the de facto starter while the Tuuka Rask situation plays out. He will be extremely motivated as he is battling Linus Ullmark for a roster spot when Rask inevitably returns. Put it together, this has all the makings of a 5-2 Bruins victory.
The Pick: Bruins (-130)
Bonus Pick: Over 5.5
