11/3/21 NHL- Carolina Hurricanes at Chicago Blackhawks Preview

One of the things that I have noticed that has made NHL outcomes difficult to predict is the insanity of the lines. Most money lines have had the favorite -150, yet underdogs on the puck line are also -150 or worse. This makes about as much sense as Hawaii having an Intestate highway. As a result, we need to pick our spots, leaning primarily on puck line favorites, money line dogs, or in game totals. This is a spot we can do that. Carolina is one of the best teams in the league. Tonight’s starting goalie Frederik Anderson leads the league with 7 wins, and is first among qualifiers with a sparkling .956 save percentage. The Hawks are a team in turmoil over their botched response to the sexual assault in 2010, but they weren’t exactly good before that. Despite being the reigning Vezina trophy winner and one of my favorite people in the NHL, Chicago starting goalie Marc-Andre Fleury represents the opposite end of the spectrum with 5 losses and a ghastly 3.92 goals against average. There is definitely some risk involved, but this is the best number you will get on favorite for the foreseeable future. Let’s go!
The Pick: Hurricanes -1.5 (+165)
